Violations:
A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.
Code | Description / Observation / Corrective Action |
101 | Improper Water Chemistry/Water Clarity Observation: The pH of the pool water was measured to be at 8.18 ppm which is above the recommended levels of pH of 7.2- 7.8. (Public health significance) - If the pH is above the recommended levels, it can reduce the effectiveness of the disinfectants used & also cause skin & eye irritations. Corrective Action: Operator to ensure that the pH is maintained at adequate levels at all times. Operator to test the pH levels at least twice daily and maintain at no less than 7.2 and no more than 7.8 which is a regulatory requirement |
203 | Repeat Inadequate or Lack of up-to-date Pool Safety Plan Observation: Pool safety plan unavailable at the site at the time of inspection. (Public Health Significance) - Pool safety plan provides information about the actions to ensure the health and safety of pool patrons in case of an incident or an emergency. Corrective Action: Operator to ensure that the pool safety plan is available at all times. The pool safety plan must include emergency procedures, required lifesaving equipment, staffing for supervision, operating procedures, and cleaning and maintenance schedules. Operator submitted the pool safety plan via email after on-site inspection. The plan was reviewed & deemed unsatisfactory. Operator was asked to update & resubmit the pool safety plan. |
205 | Improper Monitoring of Chemical Paramaters or Safety Tests Observation: Pool water chemistry logs indicated that testing for parameters such as pH, combined chlorine & free available chlorine was being conducted only once per day. As per pool regulatory requirements, these parameters must be tested at least twice daily when the pool is in operation and alkalinity to be tested at least once a week. (Public health significance) - Inadequate monitoring & recording of water chemistry parameters such as pH, combined chlorine & disinfectant levels, may result in the increasing risk of pathogen survival, and pose health effects such as skin, eye or respiratory irritation. Corrective Action: Operator to ensure that the parameters mentioned above must be tested, monitored & recorded twice daily to maintain compliance with pool regulations. |
306 | Critical Repeat Improper Handrails, Ladders, and/or Diving Boards Observation: The handrails leading into the pool were not secured properly and requires maintenance. (Public Health Significance) - Secure pool handrails are essential to prevent any slips or falls and to ensure safe entry and exit to the pool. Corrective Action: The operator to ensure that the handrails are secured and are intact and it is adequately maintained. |
401 | Note Violation Observation: Pool data sheet was unavailable at the time of inspection. (Public health significance) - Pool data sheet provides information on the design and general construction & operational requirements (water chemistry, disinfection levels etc.) of a pool. Unavailability of pool data sheet impede with proper evaluation of safety & regulatory compliance during inspections. Corrective Action: Operator to consult with a professional engineer to draft a pool data sheet with accurate information in compliance with pool regulations. |
