[?] A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.

3701-31-04 (B)(3) / Staff is trained and knowledgeable
Observed that the pool operator/staff was not trained or knowledgeable in pool operations.
In order to reduce the risk of health and safety hazards, ensure that the staff is properly trained. Train staff in pool operations, operation of equipment, chemical storage, use and handling and appropriate emergency procedures. Will provide manager with certified pool operator courses that the operator can go to. Discussed basis testing and safety of the pool on site today.
3701-31-04 (B)(4)(a)(ii) / Combined chlorine is tested daily at pool side prior to use
Observed that operator was not testing for combined chlorine, just recording values.
In order to reduce the risk of health hazards, test for combined chlorine prior to bathers entering the water and every 4 hours the pool is open for use. If ACC is in use combined chlorine must be tested every 12 hours while the pool is in use. Discussed and showed operator how to test for combined chlorine.
3701-31-04 (B)(4)(a)(iii) / pH is tested daily at pool side at required intervals for pools/automatic chemical controllers/special features
Observed that the pH was not being properly tested.
In order to reduce the risk of health and safety hazards, ensure that the pool operator know when and how to properly test the pool. The pH must be tested prior to bathers entering the water and every 4 hours the pool is open for use. If ACC is in use pH must be tested every 12 hours while the pool is in use. Showed the operator how to properly test the pool and how to record it on the logs.

Inspection Information

Facility Type: Pool

[?] Inspection Type: Follow-up

Inspection Date: 13-May-2019

The following violation(s) have been corrected since the last inspection.
3701-31-04 (C)(3)/Total alkalinity is at or greater than 60 ppm
Observed the total alkalinity was at 40 ppm.
In order to reduce the risk of health hazards, ensure that the total alkalinity is at least 60 ppm. Treat the pool to raise the total alkalinity to at least 60 ppm. Discussed this with PIC, suggested increasing the chlorine first, and then treating the alkalinity.
3701-31-04(D)(6)(a)(2)/Pool free chlorine disinfectant residual shall be above 1 ppm.
Observed 0.5 ppm free chlorine in the pool.
In order to reduce the risk of contamination, ensure that the free chlorine in the pool is a minimum of 1.0 ppm. PIC treated the pool and voluntarily closed the pool until the levels are above 1.0 ppm.
Comments
Alkalinity was at 30 ppm at the time of inspection, the PIC never treated for alakinity on Friday. I asked him to show me how he tests for alakinity and helped him correct the method. He also got 30 ppm. I helped him treat the pool to increase the total alkalinity. He closed the pool and will re-test in one hour.
Left CPO course information with the front desk to give to Carla. Bill needs to be trained.
