Observed that the staff was not trained or knowledgeable in pool operations.
In order to reduce the risk of health and safety hazards, ensure that the staff is trained and knowledgeable. Train staff in pool operations, operation of equipment, chemical storage, use and handling and appropriate emergency procedures.

3701-31-04 (B)(4)(a)(vi)/Total alkalinity is tested weekly
Observed that the total alkalinity was not being recorded weekly.
In order to reduce the risk of health hazards, ensure that the total alkalinity is being tested weekly. Test total alkalinity at least once/week.
3701-31-04 (B)(4)(b)/Life guard/ CPR/First Aid training certificates are current and available
Observed that the life guard/ CPR/First Aid training certificates were not available.
In order to reduce the risk of health and safety hazards, ensure that the lifeguard certificates are current and available upon request. Provide documentation of all training certificates for all lifeguards.
3701-31-04 (B)(6)(t)/Equipment/chemical/storage areas are free of hazards/accessible only to authorized personnel.
Observed that the chemical storage/pump room door was unlocked.
In order to reduce of health and safety hazards, ensure that the pump room door is always locked. These storage areas must be kept inaccessible to everyone but authorized personnel. Secure the areas.
3701-31-04 (C)(3)/Total alkalinity is at or greater than 60 ppm
Observed that the total alkalinity was less than 60 ppm (50 ppm).
In order to reduce the risk of health hazards, ensure that the total alkalinity is at or greater than 60 ppm. Raise the total alkalinity to at least 60 ppm.
3701-31-04 (D)(7)(c)/Audible/visual alarm shall activate when unit is malfunctioning or when pH or ORP levels are not acceptable.
Observed that the ACC was not activating an alarm when the pH was reading 7.00 but the pool water chemistry was reading 7.4.
In order to reduce the risk of health hazards, ensure that the ACC is working properly. Have the ACC unit serviced or replaced so that the audible or visual alarm is activated when necessary.
