Critical Improper bare-hand contact with RTE foods. Observed employee to hand ready to eat foods with bares while wrapping/covering foods.

Critical Corrected During Inspection Handwashing sink is being used for purposes other than handwashing. Observed dirty items are being placed and/or rinsed in hand washing sink on front service line. Observed employee discarded leftover smooth into hand sink in back preparation area.

3717-1-03.2(C) / Packaged and unpackaged food - preventing contamination by separation, packaging, and segregation
Critical Food not properly protected from contamination by packaging. Ready to eat foods (pears, cucumbers, celery, wheat grass, bananas, etc.) that have peels that will be cut through, consumed or juiced shall be properly stored covered to prevent contamination. Recommend all foods on the wall be for display only until properly washed. These shall not be considered ready to eat.

Corrected During Inspection Unnecessary chemicals stored on premises. Observed spray container of Home Insect Killer and multiple cans of paint on back chemical shelf. Owner moved all items to the office. Pesticide can all be applied by a license pest controller.

3717-1-02.3(C) / Hair restraints - effectiveness.
Food employee(s) were not wearing proper hair coverings or hair restraints.

3717-1-03.2(K) / In-use utensils - between-use storage.
In-use utensils improperly stored. Observed scoop handles for frozen ingredients to be short and in direct contact with the RTE foods. Observed the bulk granola scoop handle to be contact with RTE food.

Comments
Recommend installing an additional food preparation sink on the back wall of the front service line to allow blenders to be be rinsed in between orders. This should help limit the hand washing being used for other tasks.

A sign stating that there are no public rest-rooms shall be post on the main door.

Due to the number of critical violations a follow-up inspection has been scheduled for March, 15 to check all violations.
