[?] Inspection Type: Complaint

Inspection Date: 31-August-2023

Comments
Received a complaint that the complainant witnessed a young child, around 9 or 10, walking around the ice cream area and handing an ice cream cone to another customer after putting it close to his mouth and "make what looked like coughing and breathing noises all over the ice cream". The complainant also said that the FlavorBurst ice cream she received seemed spoiled and had a soured taste. During the complaint inspection, the PIC stated that she occasionally has her son help her with serving ice cream, though she did not see him put his face close to the cone. The PIC was reminded during the inspection that all food handlers must be trained and adhere to food safety requirements. PIC stated she will no longer have her son help her in the kitchen. In regards to the FlavorBurst ice cream, the machine was down during the inspection. However, the temperature in the cooling unit maintained temperature less than 41°F during the inspection. The PIC also stated that they go through 2 ice cream mix bags in one hour, so it is unlikely the ice cream mix would have been out of date. Part of the flavor burst flavors is Sour Green Apple, so this may have attributed to the sour taste depending on what flavor the complainant ordered.
