| Complainant stated finding maggots on lunch trays. We went to the facility and talked to the PIC. Facility employees had gone through all food trays and food containers that were being served. Only 4 trays were found with maggots. Observed the maggots in the segregated food tray by employees at the time of inspection. Inspected the food trays and food containers in the kitchen but did not find any maggots inside. Inspected clean unused trays and did not observe any maggots inside. PIC stated meat loaf, scalloped potatoes, gravy and cole slaw were served today. All food were prepared in the morning, no left over food was used. Potatoes used are dehydrated (dry) potatoes. Meat loafs were pulled out of the freezer on Monday and put into the walk in cooler to thaw, then cooked today and hot held for serving. Cole slaw was prepared this morning using prepackage shredded cabbage from the cooler, dry ingredients and seasoning. Gravy was cooked on the stove adding flower, dry beef base and seasonings. Scalloped potatoes were cooked in the tilt skillet with dehydrated potatoes, water and dry ingredients. All trash are emptied daily and receptacle are cleaned often. PIC stated no maggots were found in the male housing. Maggots were found in the female housing. All 4 trays were maggots were found were from the same housing at the female housing. Did not observe the presence of house flies or perished food in the kitchen. Advised the facility checking out the female housing and having a pest control company come and do another thorough inspection of the facility. Also advised doing a deep cleaning of the kitchen. No sign of maggots were found in the kitchen at the time of inspection. No violation was noted. |
