| Complainant stated a family member complained that the kitchen and chow hall have some disgusting conditions. The roof has been leaking onto clean dishes and the inmates are required to use those dishes that are contaminated. The kitchen has cockroaches and birds that fly around. Conducted an inspection. Contractors have been working on the roof. The night of Friday August 15 the contractors put a tarp on where the work was being completed. Due to heavy winds and rain that weekend the temporary tarp did not hold up. The rain water was leaking through the roof. The person-in-charge started that they cleaned up the area where it was leaking and cleaned all the equipment and dishes. Some of the menu items for that day have been adjusted to allow production to take place in other areas of the kitchen. Contractors were working on the roof during the inspection. No evidence of cockroaches or birds was found. The facility has a pest control company come every week to prevent pests. The facility has also installed a wall to help prevent the birds from entering the facility. |
