Complainant stated observing employee taking back an open sandwich from a customer's car through the drive-thru while still making other customers' orders.
We talked to the PIC about the complaint. PIC stated it might have been a wrong order that needed discarded and redone. PIC stated any wrong order they take from a customer is double checked to see what went wrong with the order, then the order is replaced and remade and they discard the returned food in the trash or waste food bin (to assess their waste food at the end of the day). PIC stated no returned food is reserved to customers, all is discarded. PIC stated the employee at the window handing out orders and/or taking and discarding returned food does not make food orders. Only food employees in the kitchen make food orders. Did not observe the complainant statement at the time of inspection. Reviewed with PIC proper procedures for returned food and re-serviced of food: "After being served or sold and in the possession of a consumer, food that is unused or returned by the consumer may not be offered as food for human consumption." No violation regarding the complaint was noted.
