Comments
Complainant stated being at this facility on 01/27 and noticed a child vomit in the dining area and an employee simply mopped up the vomit without following the proper procedure for Norovirus clean up. Complainant also stated observing employees rarely washing their hands before putting on gloves.
Talked to the manager about the complaint. Manager stated they have a clean up kit and a written procedure for Norovirus clean up. Manager stated all staff are trained on how to clean up vomit and that the situation should have been handled properly. Manager stated employees are supposed to wash their hands before putting on gloves. Manager stated she will review proper cleaning procedure for vomiting and proper and washing and gloves usage with employees. Observed that facility had written procedure for Norovirus clean up but did not have the clean up kit at the time of inspection. Talked to manager about getting a clean up up to ensure proper cleaning is completed when someone vomit. A follow up inspection will be conducted.
Reviewed Norovirus clean up procedure, hand washing and use of gloves wit Manager. Manager was provided with another copy of the Norovirus clean up procedure. Did not observe complainant statements at the time of inspection.
